In 1993, Paul graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Arts. His first book, Ten Tiny Terrapins (Methuen) was commissioned from work included in his final degree show. This was just the start of a successful career in children’s book design and illustration, taking him through various roles to Design Manager, before working freelance as Paul Cherrill Creative Design.
He has illustrated a variety of published work including Bedtime Little Monsters (Little Tiger Press 2002), Loo in the Zoo (Scholastic 2015) and Robo-Snot (Scholastic Oct 2016)
and is the co-founder of Jambo Cat - Children's Cards and Gifts.
A great combination of expressive line, vibrant colour and textual elements make his irrepressible characters bounce off the page with humour and style. His understanding of layout and graphics make for exciting compositions.
An acoustic guitar playing music lover, Paul is an avid collector of vinyl and a fan of album cover art. Living in Exeter with his wife and young daughter, Paul is currently involved in organising an illustration exhibition for Exeter Illustrators to be held at the RAMM.
